About This Calculator
The Fuel Trip Cost Calculator estimates total trip costs for gasoline, diesel, and electric vehicles using distance, consumption, and local energy prices. Add tolls, parking, and optional maintenance/repairs for a more realistic route budget.
How to Use This Calculator
- 1
Enter your trip distance in kilometers (one-way or round trip)
- 2
Input your vehicle's consumption rate: L/100km for gasoline/diesel or kWh/100km for electric
- 3
Add current price per liter or per kWh, then optional costs like tolls, parking, and maintenance
- 4
See total trip cost, per-person split, and CO2 estimate based on fuel type or your EV grid factor
Why Use This Calculator
Plan Trip Budgets
Know your expected fuel or charging cost before departure, so you can budget road trips and business drives with fewer surprises.
Split Costs Fairly
Calculate per-person costs when carpooling or traveling with friends to split expenses fairly among all passengers.
Track Emissions
See trip emissions for combustion cars and EVs using fuel factors or your own electricity CO2 factor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Use your owner's manual, onboard trip computer, or manufacturer data. For EVs, use kWh/100km; for combustion cars, use L/100km. Real-world averages from recent trips are usually most reliable.
Use your total travel distance. For round trips, double your one-way distance. The calculator computes costs based on total kilometers driven regardless of trip type.
For gasoline and diesel, the calculator uses fixed factors (2.31 and 2.68 kg CO2 per liter). For EVs, it uses your electricity CO2 factor in kg/kWh. Emissions are energy used multiplied by the selected factor.
Use a weighted average based on where you expect to buy most fuel or charging energy. This improves planning when tariffs differ by station, region, or charging time window.
Use steady speeds, correct tire pressure, and smoother acceleration. In Advanced mode, add maintenance/repairs per km using your last 12-month total divided by last 12-month kilometers for a realistic all-in trip estimate.
Yes. Efficiency, energy price, and maintenance profile all affect trip cost. Compare each vehicle with its real L/100km or kWh/100km and local prices to identify the lower-cost option for your route.
